Day 2

Jakarta

Today you will get to know the beating heart of Jakarta, where history and modernity go hand in hand. You begin your exploration with a visit to Sunda Kelapa, the city's historic port. This lively port on the Ciliwung River used to welcome trading ships from all over the world and played a crucial role in Indonesia's maritime history. Seeing these impressive ships gives a fascinating insight into the country's maritime heritage.

Then travel back in time at Taman Fatahillah, a beautiful square in the historic part of Jakarta, surrounded by colonial buildings. The former city hall, now the Jakarta History Museum, is a reminder of the city's rich colonial past when it was still called Batavia. The square has a charming, nostalgic atmosphere and offers an ideal place to relive Jakarta's past.

You will enjoy a delicious lunch at the atmospheric Café Batavia, a gem from colonial times. This historic café has hosted many prominent guests, including the Queen of Sweden and several ambassadors. Its elegant décor and rich history make it a special place to have lunch.
